Breakers point guard Parker Jackson-Cartwright has been charged with mishandling a game official during their Australian NBL Christmas Day match against Tasmania.
The incident occurred late in the fourth quarter of the Breakers’ 97-82 loss, when Jackson-Cartwright, knocked to the floor by former teammate Reuben Te Rangi, retaliated by charging at him before being restrained by referees.
In the scuffle, one official was knocked over, though neither player was ejected. The NBL Game Review Panel has referred Jackson-Cartwright to a single-member tribunal, where he could face suspension.
The Breakers, on an eight-game losing streak and relying heavily on Jackson-Cartwright’s scoring and assists, face a critical matchup against the Cairns Taipans on New Year’s Eve as they fight for a spot in the play-in tournament.
