The BNZ Breakers have confirmed that Parker Jackson-Cartwright has been handed a five-game suspension by the NBL’s Single Member Tribunal.
After careful deliberation with the player, the club announced that it would not appeal the decision.
“We acknowledge the ruling made by the Tribunal,” said BNZ Breakers chief executive Lisa Edser.
“Parker has fully owned and apologised for his actions which we stand beside. While his reaction in the heat of the moment was careless, there was certainly no intent to target any of the referees,” Edser added.
Jackson-Cartwright’s suspension is effective immediately, meaning he will miss the Breakers’ Tuesday night clash against the Cairns Taipans. The team’s focus will now shift to navigating the upcoming matches without their key player.
“We continue to support Parker and the rest of the team as they shift focus to their next run of important games,” Edser assured.
The star guard is set to return to action on Thursday, 16 January, in a crucial home game against the Tasmania JackJumpers at Spark Arena in Auckland.
Jackson-Cartwright’s absence will undoubtedly be felt, but the Breakers remain determined to keep their campaign on track during this challenging period.
