Kohli fined for physically barging Konstas

India’s Virat Kohli has been fined 20% of his match fee and received a demerit point for breaching ICC guidelines on “inappropriate physical contact” after colliding with Australia’s Sam Konstas during the fourth Test in Melbourne.

The incident occurred at the end of the 10th over when Kohli, 36, appeared to alter his path to clash shoulders with the 19-year-old debutant as he walked down the pitch to speak with Usman Khawaja.

Umpires and Khawaja quickly defused the situation, and Kohli accepted the sanction without requiring a formal disciplinary hearing. Despite the confrontation, Konstas impressed on debut, scoring 60 off 65 balls to help Australia close at 311-6. Kohli remains eligible to play in the final Test in Sydney next month.
