The “Rugby & Rhythms” music festival will feature a double-header lineup of Super Rugby matches alongside an afternoon of performances by some of New Zealand’s most beloved artists.
The music lineup includes renowned acts such as Ladi6, Muroki, Hollie Smith, Bailey Wiley, and Dan Sharp, with additional artists to be announced. The festival will transform FMG Stadium Waikato into a vibrant hub of activity with three performance stages: the Mill Street festival zone, the green-zone stadium area, and the main field. Fans can enjoy live shows throughout the day, along with food trucks, bars, and fan zone activities.
The rugby action kicks off with Chiefs Manawa facing Matatū in round one of Sky Super Rugby Aupiki, followed by the Gallagher Chiefs taking on the Brumbies in round three of DHL Super Rugby Pacific. This fusion of music and rugby promises an all-day entertainment extravaganza for fans of both sports and live performances.
Chiefs Rugby Club CEO Simon Graafhuis shared his excitement about the innovative event: “This is part of our strategy to diversify the entertainment experience for our fans beyond the spectacle on the field and attract new fans to the game. We are thrilled to partner with these very talented artists to deliver a fun day out for the whole family that will hopefully be one of the sought-after gigs to attend this summer concert season.”
Ladi6, one of the festival’s performers, expressed her enthusiasm: “Being part of the Manawa game and Chiefs Festival Day is an honour — Chiefs Manawa embodies mana wāhine, showing strength, heart, and resilience that inspire the whole community. I’m so lucky to stand alongside their incredible professionalism and spirit and celebrate everything they represent.”
With a mix of electrifying rugby and top-tier musical talent, the Chiefs’ Rugby & Rhythms festival aims to be a highlight of the 2025 summer calendar, bringing communities together for a unique and unforgettable experience.
