26-year-old Sophie Hediger, a member of Switzerland’s national snowboard cross team, tragically died in an avalanche at the Arosa mountain resort on Monday, the Swiss-Ski federation announced.
Hediger, who competed in the 2022 Winter Olympics and recently secured her first two World Cup podium finishes in the 2023-24 season, was remembered with heartfelt condolences from Swiss-Ski Sport CEO Walter Reusser. The federation expressed its grief and respect for her family’s privacy, stating that no further details about her death would be disclosed.
